Earlier this year we took my first trip to Las Vegas. I’ve been wanting to visit there for about 15 years and just never took the time to do it. I have to say I’m impressed. Wow. What a city.
We went right in the middle of the Great Recession so I’m not sure if I saw Vegas in its true form. A lot of the shops inside the hotels were closed and the ones that were open were not very busy. We did get a great deal on the hotel room and were even comped two nights when the trip was over. We stayed at Mandalay Bay Hotel way down on the south end of the strip. I didn’t mind being far away from everything as there are a multitude of options for getting around the city.
The fast connection to the pyramid hotel and Excalibur is very easy and gets you up to New York New York very quickly and easily. I love all the hotels. Their opulence is incredible. All the restaurants, shows, shops and gambling. I did not like all the smoke. As a non-smoker it was completely overwhelming at times. I thought it would be better ventilated, but we still noticed.
We ventured outside the city with a tour of Hoover Dam, but didn’t get much farther than that. Next time I’d like to day a longer day trip and see the Grand Canyon.
The shopping we did was wonderful. We didn’t spend a lot but it would have been easy. Stores with $20,000 items were very common. Our favorite was the authentic memorabilia that was autographed by famous people. I almost bought a signed movie poster for our home theater but couldn’t quite part with the money.
I highly recommend this city as an adult vacation destination if you are interested. But definitely leave the kids at home. Source: ezinearticles.com
